Easy Home Decorating Tips for Spring

When spring arrives, so does the urge to brighten up your home. After a big spring cleaning, you might be looking for some decorating ideas that celebrate the coming warm weather and the promise of new life. Consider some of these easy home decorating tips for spring to brighten up your home, maybe you'll even be inspired to host your first impromptu party of the season.

Arrange bouquets of seasonal flowers such as daffodils, tulips, lilacs, forcythia and azaleas in glass vases. Cut forcythia branches just after they bud and put them directly into a vase of water on the dining table so that you can enjoy blooming yellow flowers during a spring holiday brunch. Snip tulips from your walkway just after they open and enjoy watching them open for a week or more.

Replace your napkins, tablecloths and placemats with white and pastel versions. Mix and match different shades of robin's egg blue, lime green, carnation pink and buttercup yellow napkins. Include versions with white patterns for a playful, happy table.

Buy a few inexpensive clear acrylic jars and fill them with spring treats such as jellybeans and chocolate eggs wrapped in foil.

Invite serenity into your decor with the color green. For an easy change in a bedroom, living room or dining room with white walls, add green curtains. For a big change, paint the walls a light grassy shade with white molding. For a less dramatic statement, hang framed botanical prints. Green on the walls can maintain a spring-like feeling of freshness in your home all year long.

Fill a tall, light blue vase with pussy willow branches and decorate them with a collection of artificial birds. This arrangement makes an especially fun centerpiece on a buffet table for a holiday dinner, or a kitchen counter where kids congregate for snacks.

Hang a paper flower garland in the eat-in kitchen. Make your own garlands from tissue paper as a fun craft project with children.

Creative Outdoor Decoration Furniture Tips

Over the winter months our patios and backyards really take a battering. Now that the cold days are numbered, it's time to plan what work we are going to do to them to get them ready for the summer.

The easiest way to really brighten up your outdoor space is by investing on some new garden furniture and accessories. The shops and online stores are getting all their new stocks in right about now so its a perfect time to start have a look around.

The most popular outdoor furniture items are tables and chair, decks and benches. These items look particularly good when made from Teak. This tropical Hardwood from the Southern areas of Asia is tough and durable while being stylish and contemporary at the same time.

There are other fixtures and fittings that add an extra something to your yard. One of my favorites is the gazebo; they look great and are also functional. Relatively cheap and easy to erect, they look great at parties and get togethers.

An increasingly popular addition to our back yards are Tiki bars. If you host lots of parties or barbecues through the long, hot summer, a Tiki bar can prove invaluable. Decorating your tiki bar will be great fun for everyone and the kids will want to be involved too. Anything related to Tiki or the tropics always looks good, but surfing and beach themes are increasingly popular.

Seating is all important in outdoor areas and long built in benches are very popular and very functional. They are particularly good for large family days in the sun and provide plenty of seating for parties and barbecues. Many parties have been spoilt by there being no shade and people suffering in the sun. An umbrella is both essential and attractive.
